Marriott International revealed that they have signed 815 hotel agreements, with more than 136,000 rooms in 2019, reported the Business Traveller.
The record number sums up the total rooms under construction to about 515,000, aside from the existing 1.38 million rooms throughout their 7,300 developments in 134 countries.
The multinational hospitality company opened their 7,000th hotel, the St. Regis Hong Kong, in April last year, and added 516 more properties to their name throughout the course of the year.
According to them, 53 percent of the deals were outside the US, with 38,000 rooms in the Asia Pacific, 17,000 in Europe, 9,000 in Latin American and the Caribbean, and 8,000 in Africa and the Middle East.
Marriott also emphasized their luxury hotel brands, with a record 42 projects confirmed throughout 27 countries and territories, as well as 34 luxury-developments either being renovated or opened during 2019.
