This festive season, combine a luxury family holiday on a paradise island in the Maldives, with a children’s football academy hosted by former England and Chelsea footballer Joe Cole. Anantara Dhigu Maldives Resort will be hosting the Anantara Dhigu Football Academy, in partnership with Football Escapes, from 22-27 December 2020.
Children aged between five and 15 will have the opportunity to train alongside Joe Cole, with two-hour daily sessions spread over a week at the luxury five-star resort’s full-size football pitch. The course will be supported by Football Escapes’ team of UEFA-qualified coaches, with Cole teaching his skills and footwork to a new generation of budding footballers of all abilities.
Only 30 minutes by speedboat from Malé and Velana International Airport, Anantara Dhigu is situated in the South Malé Atoll offering a tropical paradise of discovery and adventure. With plenty to enjoy both on- and off- pitch, families can explore by bike, with sandy paths crisscrossing the private island and boardwalks that extend out over the crystal-clear lagoon. Alternatively go snorkelling in the balmy waters to discover the house reef teeming with tropical fish and baby sharks. The resort also offers a surf school and diving centre, an over water spa, fitness centre and yoga sessions, and numerous restaurant options.
The popular Dhoni Kids Club features an enclosed, supervised space with sandy outdoor, shaded and indoor play areas, and a lively schedule of engaging fun activities. Over the festive period, the Kids Club will be offering a programme of Santa-centric activities, Christmas crafts, gingerbread house decorating, a treasure hunt and much more.
Family-friendly beach villas include sunrise and sunset facing, with an outdoor deck area opening directly onto soft white sands and the turquoise lagoon. The Two Bedroom Family Villa has a larger outdoor recreation area for family fun including a hammock to swing in.
Each child enrolling for the Anantara Dhigu Football Academy will be provided with a full football training kit including a shirt, shorts and socks, as well as a signed certificate and medal on completion of the five-day course.
