Police Kickoff Workshop On Minimizing Impacts Of Terrorism On Tourism

Maldives Police Services kickoff workshop on minimizing impacts of terrorism on the tourism industry on 14th October in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism at Kurumba Maldives.

The workshop is named ‘Resort Security Response Management Workshop’ and is held from October 14 to 15 with 39 participants. This program is jointly conducted by my Maldives Police Service and Ministry of Tourism under the United Kingdom’s “International Protect and Prepare” project.

According to Police, discussions were initiated on topics including preventive measures against terrorist attacks and evaluating existing operating procedures and ways to enhance existing security protocols. Police confirmed that extensive information regarding the procedures directly following a possible terrorist attack will be shared with the resorts.

Tourism Minister Ali Waheed inaugurated the two-day workshop on Monday. Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed, and senior officers of Maldives Police Service as well as officials from Tourism Ministry and those in charge of the UK’s International Protect and Prepare project were in attendance at the ceremony.
