The safety and security inspection at tourist facilities have been completed for Baa Atoll, Hulhumale’ and Alif Dhaalu Atoll.
The inspections are carried out as a joint effort between the Ministry of Tourism, Maldives Police Service and Maldives National Defence Force to find out if any businesses are operating without proper registration and licensing.
These reviews are carried out in resorts, guesthouses, dive centres and yacht marinas in the Maldives and inspections in Haa Alif, Haa Dhaalu, Faafu, Gaafu Alif, Gaafu Dhaalu, Fuvahmulah City and Addu City have already been completed. Surveys in remaining Kaafu Atoll and Vaavu Atoll are underway now.
Tourism Minister Ali Waheed previously stated that employee ratio and service charge rates in these businesses will also be inspected. The ministry plans to complete the inspection before September 2019.
