Soneva Jani lands the Gold List of 2020: Best Hotels in Asia

Soneva Jani has landed on the Condé Nast Traveller’s best hotels in Asia, the gold 2020 list.

The list includes India’s staggeringly beautiful palace properties, Song Saa in Cambodia’s Koh Rong archipelago and the revitalized old classic The Datai, on a scoop of golden sand on Malaysia’s Langkawi island.

Located on the island of Medhufaru in a 5.6 km lagoon in the Noonu Atoll, Soneva Jani features both overwater and island villas.

Soneva’s dedication to sustainability is so much more than the green varnish with its own recycling centre, seawater pools, organic gardens and an open-air cinema equipped with wireless headphones so as not to disturb the nesting turtles nearby. There’s even a powerful over-water observatory with tabletop screens linked to the telescope’s view, but a better bet is the in-villa retractable moon-roof opening to let guests sleep under the Southern Cross – no devices needed.

Soneva Jani was also recently announced among the perfect ten; ‘Decade’s Best New Luxury Hotels’ alongside 2 other Maldivian resorts, Cheval Blanc Randheli, and Velaa Private Island.
