Resorts, hotels, guesthouses, diving centers and yacht marina inspections in 7 atolls across the Maldives have been completed. According to the Tourism Minister Hon. Ali Waheed, the inspections are being carried out to find out if any businesses are operating without proper registration and licensing.
While inspections in Haa Alif, Haa Dhaalu, Faafu, Gaafu Alif, Gaafu Dhaalu, Fuvahmulah City and Addu City are complete, currently surveys in Kaafu Atoll and Vaavu Atoll are underway. The inspections are carried out with the assistance of Maldives Police Service and Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF).
The Minister stated that additionally, employee ratio and service charge rates in these businesses will also be inspected. The ministry plans to complete the inspection before September 2019.
