Ministry of Tourism has announced that tourist arrivals in the Maldives have increased by 9.8 percent in November 2019, in comparison to November 2018.
According to the statistics by the Ministry, Maldives welcomed 137,913 tourists in November 2019. This accumulates the total tourist arrivals from January to November to 1,531,531. This is a 14.9% increase compared to the same period in 2018.
The strong performance region-wise in the January-November period was from Europe (48.3%) with a 15% increase and 740,093 tourists. The Maldives welcomed 74, 548 tourists from Europe in the month of November.
The second strongest performance was from Asia & the Pacific (42.1%). There were 49,864 tourists from this region in November 2019. This makes the total tourists from January-November period to 644,875. This is a 13.6% increase compared to the same period in 2018.
This was followed by American countries (4.9%) with 75,629 tourists, Middle East (3.6%) with 55,119 tourists and Africa (1%) with 15, 536 tourists.
The top 10 country-wise markets were China (17.5%), India (9.5%), Germany (7.8%), Italy (7.5%), UK (7.5%), Russia (4.9%), France (3.5%), USA (3.2%), Japan (2.6%) and Australia (2.4%).
